CHASING LIGHT

Light: it dances across landscapes, ignites emotions, and sculpts reality. It's a fleeting muse, a constant mystery, and the very essence that artists have been chasing for centuries.

The Chasing Light Exhibition is a juried exhibition that celebrates the captivating interplay of light and shadow in all its forms. We invite artists of all disciplines to capture the essence of light in their work:

  • Photographers: Do you chase the fleeting magic of a sunrise with your camera? Capture the ephemeral beauty of golden hour or the drama of a storm-lit sky.

  • Painters (plein air and studio): Still life bathed in golden afternoon light, the way sunlight filters through leaves, or the dramatic chiaroscuro of a nighttime scene - we want to see your unique interpretations.

  • 3D Artists and Sculptors: Do you sculpt with shadows, building worlds of contrast and form? How do you capture the play of light on textures and surfaces in your work?

We are seeking submissions that showcase:

  • Technical mastery: Strong use of light and shadow techniques within your chosen medium.

  • Artistic vision: A unique and personal interpretation of the theme.

  • Emotional impact: The ability to evoke a feeling or tell a story through light and shadow.

All mediums are encouraged! Paintings, sculptures, photographs, mixed media installations - let your artistic vision guide you!

Be part of the CHASING LIGHT SHOW!

Pickleball paddle exhibit
at Chicken N Pickle Glendale

Get ready for a splash of creativity as Ground Floor Artists (GFA) presents its latest endeavor: the Pickleball Paddle Exhibit hosted at Chicken N Pickle, Glendale.

Continuing our partnership with a beloved West Valley local business, Chicken N Pickle, we're excited to bring you this unique and exciting art exhibition.

From seasoned artists to budding creatives, we're calling all members and non-members to submit their artwork for this exciting event. Imagine the possibilities as artists of all levels transform standard size pickleball paddles into captivating artworks. With creative freedom at their fingertips, artists can paint anything they desire, turning these everyday sports items into unique pieces of art.

With such an overwhelming response expected, we're capping entries at just two pickleball paddles per artist. Each pickleball paddle must be ready to install. We are NOT able to leave holes at the venue, so each artist must provide a full 3M command strip rated for 20lbs per paddle (2 max).  It's a challenge, it's a thrill, and it's an opportunity to showcase your talent in a truly unique way.

Our goal is to support artists through sales, so please note that we are not accepting "Not For Sale" (NFS) paddles.

To kick off this one-of-a-kind exhibit, GFA is throwing an opening reception on July 19th, 2024, at Chicken N Pickle, Glendale, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. 9330 W Hanna Lane, Glendale, AZ 85305. This event is open to the public at no charge, so bring your friends, your family, and your enthusiasm.

Each of our exhibitions has a $35 entry fee. GFA is a 501(c)3 organization, run by the generous support of donations and volunteers. The entry fee goes towards the cost of running an exhibition, artist awards, and supporting the arts community in the West Valley.
