About the Artist
Mesmerized with forms, shapes, textures, images and color since she was a child, Karen continues to be challenged to create works in an artistic fashion of her own. After working in the corporate arena for most of her adult life, she received B.A. degrees in Art and Art History at California State University, Long Beach, followed by a move to Alaska where she worked as a docent and employee at the Anchorage Museum of History and Art. Moving to Arizona in 2004 further tested her to once again become involved with various art-related groups and classes, for which she has been truly grateful.
Currently, her art has taken on a more expressionistic flair as she continues to experiment with various techniques and mediums. She often sets out to create a theme or an emotion, attempting to tell a story dealing with images found in her travels or nature or which include some personal memorabilia which labels the final effort a “part of her.” She’s been touched to hear that many of her pieces end up speaking to the viewer in some meaningful and personal way while connecting them with a fragment of the world as they’ve experienced it themselves.
