Marisa Miranda
About the Artist
Marisa was born and educated in Barcelona, Spain where she studied drawing and design with a second major in business administration at the University of Barcelona. After working as an accountant for a few years she decided to be a full-time artist.
When Marisa moved to New York City she continued her studies in art and took advanced classes in oil painting. She had several exhibits at the New City Art Gallery, and the Manhattan Center for the Arts, then located in the heart of New York’s Greenwich Village. Her paintings of landscapes won several awards.
Her travels took her to Sylvania, Ohio, a township a few miles west of Toledo where she studied watercolor painting under the tutorship of renowned watercolorist Walter Chapman, a member of the prestigious Salmagundi Club in New York City, winner of multiple awards as well as artist in residence of the Toledo Art Museum in Toledo, Ohio. While in Sylvania, Marisa had several solo exhibits of her watercolors at the Chapman Art Gallery.
Marisa transferred to Los Angeles where she expanded her talent in design into the making of jewelry. Today, she lives in the Phoenix area where she makes silver jewelry inspired by the landscape and beauty of the Southwest. Her jewelry consists of sterling silver bracelets, pendants, earrings, and rings inlaid with turquoise, lapis lazuli, malachite, and other precious gems. Among her clients are several celebrities, and public figures both in the United States and Europe.
