Nancy Osborn
About the Artist
About 80% of Nancy's art uses upcycled materials. She acquires materials from various places, estate sales, thrift stores, construction reclamation stores and whatever she can find around the house. Items don't get tossed until scrutinized for creative possibilities. Can she add color to this discarded jar to create a beautiful container? Can this broken kitchen gadget be used as a shaping tool ? Old becomes new, what was once considered useless finds new life in her crafters tool box, lifeless worn out pieces are resurrected by adding color.
After retiring, she upcycled her life as a 9-5 worker, into that of a happy crafter. Inspired by her mother, who found her niche for creating art late in life, Nancy also, found her niche with fluid art, which is delightful and frustrating because there is the element of surprise. Sometimes her piece closely resembles what was imagined. Sometimes it looks nothing like what she intended . Oftentimes, in life, as well as in art, if one will only let go of initial expectations, one can appreciate what is, as opposed to what was expected.
