About the Artist

Shirley Bartell is a mixed media artist and crafter who has been exploring design for more than 50 years. Her one-of-a-kind creations often incorporate recycled materials and showcase her sensitivity for color and composition. Display art, paper products and silk scarves bring beauty into the practical aspect of everyday life.  Handbound and altered books and other items incorporate repurposed materials and feature handmade embellishments, fiber, stitch and homemade and self-decorated papers.  Shirley loves to collaborate with other artists to design and develop projects and to share and teach techniques at her home studio in Denver, CO.
