About this Event

Jewish Americans were instrumental in shaping the United States as we know it today, with its guarantees of religious freedom and civil rights. Subjects include profiles of fascinating Jewish Americans in art, science, music and social welfare who helped have helped to shape our culture.

In the Jewish tradition, shabbat ends on Saturday night after the appearance of three stars in the sky. Join us following the lecture for light refreshments and havdallah: a ritual that ushers in the new week. The ritual involves lighting a special havdallah candle, blessing a cup of wine and smelling sweet fragrances.

Judaic art and artifacts will be on display and Mr Ezratty will also share his extensive knowledge of collecting and protecting works of art.

Harry A. Ezratty lectures throughout the US at colleges, Universities, Historical Societies and Community Groups, including as a Scholar-in- Residence. Mr. Ezratty currently lives in Baltimore, MD where he teaches courses on American Jewish history and culture.

Harry A. Ezratty was born a Sephardic Jew in New York City and is a graduate of New York University and Brooklyn Law School.
